Rep. Jasmine Crockett made a derogatory, ableist remark regarding Texas Gov. Greg Abbott while speaking at the Human Rights Campaign’s 2025 HRC Los Angeles Dinner on Saturday.
“Y’all know we got Governor Hot Wheels down there. Come on now,” the Democratic congresswoman from Texas said, mocking her state’s Republican governor, who uses a wheelchair.
Abbott has used a wheelchair since 1984, when, at the age of 26, a tree fell on his back and paralyzed him from the waist down.
“And the only thing hot about him is that he is a hot ass mess, honey,” Crockett continued.
This is the second time in a year that Crockett, who has gained attention online for incendiary and outspoken remarks, has used a slur to attack a Republican — last May she said Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia had a “bleach-blonde, bad-built, butch body” after Greene insulted her “fake eyelashes” during a House Oversight Committee hearing. Crockett went on to file to trademark the insult.
