Gov. DeSantis (R-FL) argues COVID emergency powers still in place do not give Biden authority to forgive student debt.

Gov. DeSantis is not too pleased with President Biden’s decision to cancel student debt. In a press conference, Gov. DeSantis (R-FL) argued that President Biden does not have the authority or power to forgive student debt because of COVID emergency. He feels like it is unfair.

He does not have the Constitutional authority to do this. He is He is relying on emergency powers because of covid. So wait a minute, you got a PhD in gender studies, five years ago and that has something to do with covid. It is an abuse of power. It's not constitutional. I don't think he's going to be, this is going to be sustained, going forward, but it just shows you when you hear these politicians talking about these emergency powers, basically, they want that. To be able to override the traditional rule of law. So I think it's going to get rejected.
