Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer on Monday heaved praise on Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro — a potential candidate for vice president — at a rally for likely Democratic nominee Kamala Harris, leading the crowd to repeat a saucy chant.
"How good is Josh Shapiro? Well, he's gotten a heck of a lot done in just over — well, in over the last year and a half,” said Whitmer, a fellow Democrat. “And it's another example of Democratic governors who believe in our three-part strategy: Get! Shit! Done!"
“Get shit done!” the crowd then repeated.
"Okay, my foulmouthed friends, let's jump in," Whitmer said with a smile.
In the past week, since President Joe Biden exited the 2024 race and endorsed Harris to replace him, Democrats like Whitmer and Shapiro have touted Harris and Democrats’ records, in addition to their own. Whitmer is also considered to be a candidate to be Harris’ running mate, although she insists she will remain in Michigan. North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper, meanwhile, confirmed Monday that he was withdrawing from consideration.
