Fox News anchor Harris Faulkner was incredulous to hear the phrase “the carpet doesn't match the drapes” on her show Monday morning.
After GOPAC Chairman and Republican strategist David Avella claimed Vice President Kamala Harris wants to eliminate all fossil fuels, former Rep. Patrick Murphy (D-PA) had a curious response:
“David, I love you, brother. But when you say they're trying to get rid of fossil fuels, the facts — the carpet doesn't match the drapes, brother,” Murphy said on on “The Faulkner Focus.”
“Excuse me?!” Faulkner said, shocked.
“We've had historic fossil fuel production,” Murphy said. “I'm saying that the audio doesn't match the video here, Harris. When [Avella] said that they're against fossil fuels — we have drilled more for oil and natural gas in America than in American history.”
When Harris ran for president in 2020, at the time she backed liberal environmental stances, including a vow to end federal support for the fossil fuel industry, stopping new oil leases on federal lands and waters, and banning fracking. But while Harris cast the tiebreaking vote as vice president for the 2022 Inflation Reduction Act, the largest climate investment in United States history, the Biden administration did not act on the most liberal proposals. The administration has actually greenlit more oil permits on federal lands and waters than the Trump administration.
