The Recount went out and asked New Yorkers their thoughts on Elon Musk, owner of Tesla, SpaceX, and X, as well as the leader of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) and senior advisor to President Donald Trump. They did not hold back.
“Dude deserves to get put in a mental institution,” one New Yorker said. “Great cars, terrible everything else.”
“People were claiming that Kamala [Harris], like, had not enough experience to be involved in the government. Then, what the hell is Elon doing here?” another questioned.
“I’m really, really surprised at how fascist he is, and I think it’s bizarre,” another one added.
“He’s not an elected official,” someone else said. “I think we’re fucked.”
Others had more favorable views of Musk.
“I kind of like Elon Musk,” one said. “I think he’s pretty cool. I like Twitter. I like Tesla Cybertrucks, so yeah.”
“If you call Elon Musk a Nazi, I think you kind of need to evaluate how you critically think in general,” another said.
