Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) blasted Republicans during a press conference for threatening abortion rights. Warren said that if Roe v. Wade is overturned that all women across America, no matter whether they live in a “red state,” “blue state,” or “purple state” will feel the consequences. A woman's right to have an abortion resurfaced as a top political and cultural topic in the wake of the leaked Supreme Court draft opinion signaling that the Court would overturn the 1973 landmark court case. Democrats recently attempted to codify Roe v. Wade through legislation, but the vote failed in the Senate.
Warren added that there will be no safe haven if Republicans pass a nationwide ban on abortions. She gave an example of what was in store, citing data broker companies already selling the cell phone tracking data of women visiting abortion clinics.
“These practices would allow anyone with a credit card to buy the location data of a woman seeking abortion services, including crossing state lines,” Warren said. She added that these are dangerous practices that put anyone seeking access to care at risk.
“This is a five-alarm fire,” Warren warned.
