Donald Trump on Friday promised to conduct "large deportations from Springfield, Ohio" and to send immigrants "back to Venezuela" if he's elected.
"I can say this: We will do large deportations from Springfield, Ohio," Trump told reporters at his golf course in Rancho Palos Verdes, outside of Los Angeles. "Large deportations."
The Republican nominee for president has spread racist, right-wing conspiracy theories about the Haitian immigrant population in the Ohio town, falsely claiming that they are “destroying [the residents'] way of life" and are abducting and eating pets and other wildlife.
In recent days, Springfield officials and schools have faced bomb threats, which caused evacuations of multiple buildings."
We're going to get these people out," Trump said, appearing to refer to the Haitian immigrant population. "We're bringing them back to Venezuela."
"We're going to have the largest deportation in the history of our country," the former president claimed. "And we're going to start with Springfield and Aurora, [Colorado]."
