Clinton never broke the "highest, hardest glass ceiling" in 2016 — but she's confident Harris will do it in 2024.

Hillary Clinton during the DNC on Monday voiced her confidence that Vice President Kamala Harris will burst through the glass ceiling that Clinton attempted to break and be elected president of the United States.

"Together, we've put a lot of cracks in the highest, hardest glass ceiling," Clinton said during Night 1 of the Democratic National Convention, alluding to her 2016 presidential bid. "And tonight, tonight, so close to breaking through once and for all."

"On the other side of that glass ceiling is Kamala Harris raising her hand and taking the oath of office as our 47th president of the United States," Clinton continued.

At the 2016 Democratic convention, the former senator and secretary of state accepted her party's nomination for president. She was the first woman to win the nomination of a major American political party, and the first woman to win the popular vote for president, but ultimately lost the Electoral College to Donald Trump.

"Tonight we've reached a milestone in our nation's march toward a more perfect union," Clinton said at the 2016 DNC. "The first time that a major party has nominated a woman for president."

"When there are no ceilings, the sky's the limit. So let's keep going. Let's keep going until every one of the 161 million women and girls across America has the opportunity she deserves to have," Clinton added.
