Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was one of a number of lawmakers arrested on the steps of the Supreme Court for blocking traffic while protesting recent Supreme Court decisions affecting abortion rights across America. AOC was handcuffed and walked away by Capitol Police. On June 24, in a 6-3 decision along ideological lines, the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade and ended the constitutional right to abortion in the United States of America, triggering a number of laws banning abortion to go into effect in states across America almost immediately, with others poised to pass through state legislatures without delay. “I believe that lying under oath is an impeachable offense,” AOC told MSNBC in a recent TV interview, in which she said the newly sworn-in justices should be impeached. “They lied,” Ms. Ocasio-Cortez said, referring to their swearings-in, adding: “there must be consequences for such a deeply destabilizing action and hostile takeover of our democratic institutions.”
