Biden urges House Speaker to put Senate foreign aid bill to a vote: “It would pass … And the Speaker knows that.”

President Joe Biden on Tuesday urged Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) to put the Senate’s bipartisan $95 billion foreign aid package for Israel, Ukraine, and Taiwan to a vote in the House of Representatives, amid Democrats' concerns that Johnson won't act on the legislation.

“Earlier this morning, the United States Senate, as you all know, voted overwhelmingly by a margin of 70 to 29 to move forward with the bipartisan national security bill. Now, it moves to the House,” the president said in remarks at the White House.

“I urge Speaker Johnson to bring it to the floor immediately — immediately. There’s no question that if the Senate bill was put on the floor in the House of Representatives, it would pass,” Biden continued. “And the Speaker knows that.”

“So, I call on the Speaker to let the full House speak its mind and not allow a minority of most extreme voices in the House to block this bill even from being voted on,” Biden added.
