Biden jokes with audience during remarks on the "care economy": "You want to come make a speech or shush up, OK?"

President Biden on Tuesday joked with an audience member while delivering remarks on the "care economy.”

“As I came to office, I signed the American Rescue Plan. Not a single Republican voted for it, I might add. Not one. It made our nation's biggest investment in child care ever. For example, it kept 225,000 child care working centers open, giving parents an opportunity to get back to work,” Biden said at an event with union workers at Union Station in Washington, D.C.

As the president touted his proposed spending on child care and other investments in the “care economy,” an audience member shouted out and interrupted his speech.

“Well, I'll tell you what, you want to come make a speech or shush up, okay? I'm not messing around with him. He looks like he could take me,” Biden responded.

Biden then finished describing his administration’s efforts to expand and invest in the “care economy.”
