Baltimore State Attorney Marilyn Mosby apologized to the families of victim Hae Min Lee and now-exonerated Adnan Syed. Adnan Syed officially had all charges dropped against him from the 1999 murder of Hae Min Lee that saw him wrongfully imprisoned for 23 years. Adnan Syed’s case was made popular by the podcast “Serial” and he was released from prison last month. The Baltimore State Attorney office received the results from DNA testing that exonerated Adnan Syed.
MOSBY: “Although my administration was not responsible for neither the pain inflicted upon Hae Min Lee's family, nor was my administration responsible for the wrongful conviction of Mr. Syed, as a representative of the institution, it is my responsibility to acknowledge and to apologize to the family of Hae Min Lee and Adnan Syed. As the administrator of the criminal justice system, it's my duty to ensure that justice is not delayed, justice is never denied, but justice be done.”
