Kansas Republicans are under fire after hosting a fundraising event in which attendees beat up and kicked an effigy of President Joe Biden.
The event took place on Friday night in Overland Park, Kansas, the stateâs second largest city, and was hosted by the Johnson County Republican Party.
Tickets for the event, which was billed as âA Grand Olâ Party: Johnson County Road to Red Event,â ranged from $100 to $300. The GOP county chair, Maria Holiday, said the âinteractive self-defenseâ exhibit was set up as part of a local martial arts schoolâs booth.
The former state Republican chair, Mike Kuckelman, condemned the event and called on Holiday and the current Kansas GOP chair, Mike Brown, to resign.
âI donât agree with President Bidenâs policies, but he is a fellow human being,â Kuckelman said. âNo one should condone or defend this horrific and shameful conduct.â
The Kansas City Star was first to report on the footage.
