Attendees at Kansas county GOP fundraising event beat and kick an effigy of President Biden.

Kansas Republicans are under fire after hosting a fundraising event in which attendees beat up and kicked an effigy of President Joe Biden.

The event took place on Friday night in Overland Park, Kansas, the state’s second largest city, and was hosted by the Johnson County Republican Party.

Tickets for the event, which was billed as “A Grand Ol’ Party: Johnson County Road to Red Event,” ranged from $100 to $300. The GOP county chair, Maria Holiday, said the “interactive self-defense” exhibit was set up as part of a local martial arts school’s booth.

The former state Republican chair, Mike Kuckelman, condemned the event and called on Holiday and the current Kansas GOP chair, Mike Brown, to resign.

“I don’t agree with President Biden’s policies, but he is a fellow human being,” Kuckelman said. “No one should condone or defend this horrific and shameful conduct.”

The Kansas City Star was first to report on the footage.
