Black History Month is drawing to a close, and it’s VERY clear that the future of Black history is incredibly uncertain. As bogus debates over critical race theory roil their way through school board meetings across the country, they threaten to undercut efforts to accurately teach about our country’s past when it comes to African Americans. The Recount talks with Dr. Hasan Kwame Jeffries, Associate Professor of History at The Ohio State University, about why it’s important to “understand the past, so you can make sense of the present.”
