"[Trump] cannot comprehend putting others first": Pete Buttigieg on Trump mocking Medal of Honor and soldiers who died.

Federal Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, a veteran, on Monday slammed Donald Trump mocking the Medal of Honor and soldiers who died, saying he cannot “cannot comprehend putting others first.”

“I remember when I went to officer training in Newport, Rhode Island. Outside every one of our rooms, they put a little biography of just one of the people from the Navy who won the Medal of Honor,” Buttigieg said during an interview on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” in the morning. “Maybe that's why those stories just break Donald Trump's brain. He literally cannot comprehend that kind of sacrifice, and he certainly cannot comprehend a concept of politics that is not about you, not about your glorification, but about what you can do to make other people better off.”

Trump has taken heat after on Thursday, as he praised Republican megadonor Miriam Adelson, he complained about people who view the Medal of Honor, the nation’s highest military honor, as equal to the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest U.S. civilian award. Trump gave Adelson the Medal of Freedom in 2018.

“It’s actually much better because everyone gets the Congressional Medal of Honor,” he said. “Soldiers, they’re either in very bad shape because they’ve been hit so many times by bullets, or they’re dead. She gets it and she’s a healthy, beautiful woman. And they’re rated equal.”
