While appearing on “The Howard Stern Show” on Tuesday, ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith said he would “love” to participate in a presidential debate, and, specifically, be able to debate former President Donald Trump.
“Can I confess to you, though? I will, I will. People gonna call me crazy. Obviously, I have my show ‘First Take’ on ESPN every weekday morning, right? It’s a debate show. I would love to be in a presidential debate,” Smith told Stern.
“I’d eat him alive … I’d debate Trump any day of the week. Any day of the week. Name the time and place, and I’d show up,” the sports personality said.
Smith said he “wouldn’t run for the presidency,” though. The “First Take” commentator responded with a swift “hell no” when Stern asked if he’d ever run for office.
“I’m on ‘Howard Stern Show,’ man. Let me be very, very candid: I’m not giving up my quality of life to earn $400,000 a year and be stressed every day. It ain’t happening,” Smith quipped.
