Sec. Lloyd Austin says U.S. “will not tolerate” attack on troops in Jordan, says he’s “glad to be back at the Pentagon.”

Returning to work Monday, Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said the United States “will not tolerate” the drone attack on U.S. service members in Jordan.

While hosting NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg at the Pentagon, Austin addressed the Sunday militant drone attack in Jordan that killed three U.S. service members and injured at least 34.

“The president and I will not tolerate attack on U.S. forces and we will take all necessary actions to defend the U.S. and our troops,” Austin said.

Monday was Austin's first day back at the Pentagon for in-person work since his release from Walter Reed National Military Medical Center on Jan. 15. Austin, 70, was diagnosed with prostate cancer in December and spent two weeks in the hospital following complications from a prostatectomy. His hospitalization was controversially kept secret for days not only from the public but also President Joe Biden.

“Now, at this important time, I’m glad to be back at the Pentagon. I feel good and am recovering well, but still recovering,” Austin remarked. “And I appreciate all the good wishes that I’ve received thus far.”
