Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley on Tuesday hit former president Donald Trump’s endorsements for RNC leadership.
“What we saw yesterday was he took a different approach. Now he has decided, he has fired the RNC chair. He's named who's gonna be the new RNC chair. His daughter-in-law will be the co-chair. And he is making his campaign manager the officer that runs the party,” Haley said at a campaign event in her hometown of Bamberg, South Carolina.
“Think about what's happening right now. Is that how you're gonna try and take an election?”
Trump on Monday said in a statement that he was endorsing his daughter-in-law, Lara Trump, to be co-chair of the Republican National Committee, and Michael Wheatly, who currently serves as the chairman of the North Carolina Republican Party, to succeed Ronna McDaniel as the leader of the committee. He also wants a senior campaign adviser, Chris LaCivita to be the RNC’s chief operations officer at the same time.
The endorsement comes after reports that McDaniel could soon step down from her role after South Carolina holds its GOP primary later this month.
