In a Fox News interview with Harris Faulkner on Wednesday, 2024 GOP candidate Nikki Haley was asked again about her recent viral response on the campaign trail to a question about the causes of the Civil War in which she omitted mentioning slavery. When the questioner said he found it “astonishing” that Haley hadn’t used the word “slavery” at any point in her answer, she asked, “What do you want me to say about slavery?” The former U.N. ambassador and South Carolina governor told Faulkner, “Really, the media is the only one that has talked about this issue,” to which Faulkner responded: “No, that’s actually not true.” Haley went on to insist in the exchange with Faulkner that “not one person on the ground in New Hampshire or Iowa are talking about it.” Haley had been asked the question about the Civil War by a voter at a town hall in New Hampshire.
