After months of people complaining about his attire, Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) finally got a compliment on his fashion in a Senate hearing on fentanyl Thursday.
“There’s no reason you would know me and know my record, but before I became a senator, I was the lieutenant governor of Pennsylvania, and I was in charge of the pardons process here in my state. An important part of my platform is I believe in second chances. And I’ve signed off on thousands and thousands of pardons. And I believe in redemption,” Fetterman said in the windup to a question directed at Jason DeFord, a music artist better known by his stage name Jelly Roll, who was testifying at the hearing.
In his opening statement, DeFord had said, “I am a musician and that I have no political alliance. I am neither Democrat nor Republican. In fact, because of my past, my right to vote has been restricted. Thus far, I have never paid attention to a political race in my life.”
However, in his response to Fetterman, DeFord said, “You are actually one of the few politicians I was familiar with because you dress like me, which I think’s awesome.”
“I never give advice on fashion,” Fetterman joked back.
