The House DOGE subcommittee on Wednesday held its first hearing — and it quickly became a referendum on Elon Musk and was filled with partisan attacks.
"This is not a time for political theater and partisan attacks," Chairwoman Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, a Republican from Georgia, said to open the hearing.
"In the last Congress, Chairwoman Greene literally showed a dick pic," California Democratic Rep. Robert Garcia started. "So, I thought I'd bring one as well."
"President Elon Musk," Garcia said as he displayed an enlarged photo of the DOGE head's face in the hearing.
"If Democrats really care about unelected bureaucrats making decisions over our lives, where were they whenever their god, Anthony Fauci, was forcing vaccine and mask mandates on the American people?"
Texas GOP Rep. Brandon Gill said, taking aim at Democrats' criticism of Musk slashing federal spending despite being an unelected adviser to President Donald Trump.
"The gravy train for a lot of these folks, it's been on biscuit wheels, and it's about to run off the dadgum tracks," said Tennessee's Rep. Tim Burchett, a Republican.
"We are going to have so much fun in this committee," Rep. Melanie Stansbury (D-NM) said.
