During an event hosted by President Biden at the White House to celebrate the Jewish New Year, Rosh Hashanah, First Lady Dr. Jill Biden paid tribute to the Hurricane Ian victims. Hurricane Ian made landfall with the west coast of Florida this past Wednesday, absolutely decimating the area. The damage caused by the Category 4 hurricane is immense and the casualties are suspected to be high. The high holy days are some of the most important days in the Jewish faith and reflect the ten days between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur.

BIDEN: “As we gather in honor of the high holy days, I know that all of our hearts are with those affected by the hurricanes. Many have had to flee their homes, as you've seen, temples will be shuttered on Yom Kippur, and some will have to break their fast without beloved family beside them. I hope that their faith and our prayers bring them comfort during this dark time.”
