On Late Night with Seth Meyers, Comedian John Oliver addressed a joke he made regarding Queen Elizabeth II's passing that was censored in the U.K.
OLIVER: “Was, I don't, it wasn't really a joke, barely had the premise but all I said was that Britain is still mourning the shocking loss, right, of a 96 year old woman from natural causes. It's not, it doesn't, it's not, literally not a joke. Scientifically, it's not a joke. That's just a fact with kind of dickish inflection, that's all it is. And yet they cut it out. Which is pretty shit because apparently all we've heard all week is the Queen had incredible sense of humor. Just non-stop told she was so funny, that she was so funny. The Queen, she was razorsharp. She dreamt of going to the Del Close Marathon. Big comedy fan.”
MEYERS: “I will say I've watched a lot of anecdotes of people saying, yeah, she was so funny and then they tell a story and it you, when it ends you do, ehh I don’t know.”
OLIVER: “Or that clip. That clip where she was with Paddington. I'm watching a bear carry her comedically in that scene. She's giving that bear nothing back. There is one set of footprints in the sand and it's a paw. But, but she was a huge comedy fan.”
MEYERS: “Huge comedy fan.”
