President Biden told reporters he's "concerned" about China's response to Taiwan and says that Pelosi's trip to Taiwan was "her decision", before boarding a flight to flood-ravaged eastern Kentucky Monday morning. China extended military drills around the island in the wake of Pelosi’s visit, which it condemned in the loudest diplomatic tones. Meanwhile, Taiwan’s defense ministry said Sunday it detected 66 Chinese aircraft and 14 warships carrying out exercises. The island hasput its military on alert and deployed ships, planes and other assets to monitor the war games, which it says are “simulating attacks on the island of Taiwan and our ships at sea.”

Taiwan’s official Central News Agency reported that its army will conduct live-fire artillery drills on Tuesday and Thursday, in response to Chinese exercises in the area.

REPORTER: How worried are you about this incident in Taiwan, because China is kind of keeping a bit of a grid around the whole island now?

BIDEN: I am I'm not worried but I'm concerned that they're moving as much as they are, but I don't think they're going to do anything more

REPORTER: Do you think it was a wise move for the Speaker to go to Taiwan?

BIDEN: That was her decision. Thank you.
