"Be more appreciative": Trump is asked what Ukraine's Zelenskyy must do to restart negotiations to get U.S. aid.

President Donald Trump on Monday was asked what Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy must do to restart peace negotiations with the United States following their tense meeting in the Oval Office last week.

"Mr. President, what do you need to see from President Zelenskyy to restart these negotiations?" ABC News' Rachel Scott asked Trump during an unrelated news conference.

“Well, I just think he should be more appreciative because this country has stuck with them through thick and thin," Trump responded.

Zelenskyy was set to sign the minerals deal on Friday until a meeting in the Oval Office with Trump and Vice President JD Vance devolved into an argument. Vance attacked Zelenskyy for not being grateful enough for U.S. support in the war. The blow-up resulted in Zelenskyy being asked to leave the White House, and deal was left without his signature.

"We've given them much more than Europe," the president said, referring to the aid that the U.S. has sent Ukraine since the Russian invasion.

"And Europe should have given more than us because, as you know, that's right there, that's the border," Trump added.
