Touting his distant second-place finish at the Iowa caucuses Monday night, Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) noted the volume of attacks on him and accused the media of bias against him.
“They threw everything but the kitchen sink at us. They spent almost $50 million attacking us. No one’s faced that much all the way just through Iowa,” DeSantis said in a speech at his Iowa headquarters.
“The media was against us. They were writing our obituary months ago,” the Florida governor added. “They even called the election before people even got a chance to vote!”
In his victory speech after being projected the overwhelming winner, former President Donald Trump appeared to chide DeSantis and former UN ambassador Nikki Haley: “I want to congratulate Ron and Nikki for having a good time together.”
After her projected third-place finish in the Iowa caucuses, Haley also appeared to take a swipe at DeSantis, claiming that “Iowa made this Republican primary a two-person race” between her and Trump.
