Rep. Suzanne Bonamici on Wednesday slammed House Republicans for calling in leaders of education systems for a hearing on antisemitism in schools while refusing to reject Donald Trump's history of antisemitic comments.

Speaking at a House Education and the Workforce subcommittee hearing, the Oregon Democrat referenced Trump’s history, including reports that he said “Hitler had done some good things,” as well as him saying earlier this year that “any Jewish person that votes for Democrats hates their religion.”

“Despite these persistent examples of comments that others have called antisemitic, and continued relationships with well-known antisemites, I have not heard one word of concern from my colleagues across the aisle. In fact, what we have seen is consolidation of support for the former president,” Bonamici said. “If my colleagues care about antisemitism, they would condemn and denounce these comments from the leader of their party.”

“So, I will offer my colleagues on the other side of the aisle the opportunity right now to condemn these previous comments. Does anyone have the courage to stand up against this?” she continued.

After a few seconds of silence at the hearing, Bonamici said: “Let the record show no one spoke up at this time.”
